A look back at the motorcycle history of Zschopau
|
1953 Model, IFA RT 125
125 cc, 5 hp, 78 kg, 75 kph.
The engine was an improved version of the 1939 RT, but with a
telescopic suspension frame. |
|
1956 Model, IFA MZ BK 350
350 cc, 17 hp, 155 kg, 115 kph.
The first machine from the now nationalised factory bearing the MZ
name, with shaft drive and opposed piston engine. Uncharted territory for
a motorcycle. |
|
1956 Model, MZ ES 250
250 cc, 12½ hp, 142 kg, 110 kph.
Introduced in 1957, with swinging arm suspension front and rear,
excellent riding qualities and a torquey engine, precisely the ingredients
many riders of the day were looking for. |
