1939 Model, DKW ORS 250 Trials Machine
250 cc, 12½ hp, 140 kg, 120 kph
The first purpose built trials machine, as opposed to modified stock
machine, was the ORS. The air cooled single cylinder engine was fitted
with an opposed piston charge-pump. |

1939 Model, DKW RT 125
125 cc, 4¾ hp, 66 kg, 75 kph.
The ideas incorporated in this machine were to influence the design of
light bikes for decades to come, with its foot operated 3 speed gearbox,
compact dynamo and lightweight rubber cushioned tubular frame. |

1940 Model, DKW NZ 500
500 cc, 18½ hp, 165 kg, 120 kph.
Characterised by a high degree of standardisation, the 500 cc model
(there was also 250 and 350 cc machines) featured a twin cylinder engine
and a sturdy swinging arm rear suspension. |
