A look back at the motorcycle history of Zschopau
|
1935 Model, DKW SB 500 de luxe
500 cc, 15 hp, 165 kg, 110 kph.
One of the most important technical advances of 2-stroke engines,
schnürle loop scavenging, was introduced in the DKW SB series in 1932/33.
This offered better cooling, higher economy and efficiency and the
possibility of using lighter pistons. The SB de luxe came with dynastart,
a full instrument panel and twin headlamps. |
|

100 cc, 3 hp, 45 kg, 60 kph.
The production record in the 30's was held by the RT with over 70,000
produced. This machine held the lead among the 100cc machines with loop
scavenging, 3-speed transmission, flywheel magneto ignition. Powerful
enough to eliminate the need for auxiliary pedals. |
